When thinking about which type of video wall you require, you need to have a solution that delivers your message or content in the best possible way. Below are some points you need to consider, which will assist you in making the first steps to formallising an idea of exactly what it is you require.
Resolution: 720p or 1080p
Does your video wall need to be standard or high definition? Who’s your audience and from what distance are they viewing the screen?
Size: 100″ 20’
Who’s your audience? What will their viewing distance be from the video wall? What’s your message content and where will the screen be positioned?
Location: Inside or Outside
The location of the screen, being indoors or outdoors, determines the type of screen you can use, which also has a bearing on the overall cost.
Position: Ground level +
Who’s your audience and where will they be viewing the video wall from? If your display is to be positioned high, do you have permission? There are health and safety issues, have these been questioned? Is it possible to allow/enable technical staff to install the video wall?
Fixtures & Fittings: fixed on wall, hung from ceiling, freestanding or moveable
Do you require manoeuvring your video wall with ease and flexibility? Who’s your audience and where will they be viewing the video wall? Is your idea feasibly possible in terms of location and installation? I.e. Does the weight bearing of the wall allow for a video wall comprising of heavy screens to be hung? This has a bearing on where the video wall can be positioned and the type of brackets used. It also determines the type of video wall you can have and the cost.
Distance from Data Source:
Where is the data source in relation to the video wall? If the data you wish to display is required in high definition and if the distance from the data source is away from the video wall, but onsite, it may be necessary to use higher quality and more expensive cabling, i.e. fibre-optic cable. If the data source is off-site, it may be necessary to house an onsite server to enable the data to be updated instantly. Each have high cost implications.
Alignment: Landscape, portrait, mosaic styled
Most ideas are possible and we’ll work with you to bring your ideas to fruition. Your concept may be to have the video wall in many different orientations and this has a bearing on the cost, location, installation time and type of brackets to be used.
Bezel Size (border around the screen):
Who’s your audience? What do you want to show them? Where are the audience in relation to the screen? What’s your budget? Some designs include a bezel, some designs have no bezel, it’s your design and your budget. AJS will consult and advise you on the most suitable screen for your requirement and budget.
Type of Screens and Numbers Required: Projected, LCD, LPD, Plasma, LED
Standard or high definition, 100 inch or 20 ft, small or large budget, location and weight. It’s these things you’ll need to think about when coming to the decision of the type of screen that’s required.
Content: Video, non Video Media
Where’s the location of the screen in relation to the viewer? What’s your content and who are you aiming it at? These things need to be considered when looking at the type of screen which will be used and the amount of time it will take to install the video wall. Budget is also something that’s taken into consideration when thinking about the content.
